The Mystic Chorale, one of Greater Boston’s favorite community choruses, presents its annual Gospel concert, Simply Amazing, on February 25th at Cary Hall, 1605 Mass Ave, Lexington. Led by Donnell Patterson, the 150­-voices­-strong chorale, along with featured soloist, Christine DeVaughn, and musicians, Adonis Martin (keys), Domenic Davis (bass), and Jamaal Shoffner (drums), present a spirit-filled performance that will lift you up, stir your soul, and warm your heart!

Monthly Open Sing with JVOI

Joyful Voices of Inspiration (JVOI) is a - a local community gospel choir under the direction of Donnell Patterson. Founded as a traveling choir, JVOI loves to travel and goes on singing tour most every summer. The choir has visited Italy (twice), France, Holland, Ireland, Brazil, Costa Rica, Argentina, Barcelona Spain and Germany!!

JVOI frequently donates their services at civic and fund raising events in the Boston area.

JVOI hears from so many people who want to join the choir or attend a rehearsal to in order to experience the joy of singing gospel music with Donnell Patterson, and we feel that providing a way for as many as people as possible to sing gospel is an important part of the choir’s mission.

As a result, the choir started an open public monthly gospel sing we call simply “First Monday”!!

EVERYONE is welcome at our new monthly gospel sings; no experience necessary. Just come and have fun learning marvelous gospel songs from the one and only Donnell Patterson.

“First Monday” open sings are held on the FIRST MONDAY of every month October – May (with holidays being the exception). The 2019-2020 season will begin Monday October 7, 2019 and run through May 4, 2020, at the First Parish of Watertown, 35 Church St. from 7:30 – 9:00PM.

There is a suggested $20 participation fee/donation per person per session.

The Millennium Gospel Choir is, at its core, a community choir that represents a cross-section of great Boston’s best gospel singers, musicians, and music leaders/directors. The Boston Pops and the Boston Pops Gospel Choir will be led by conductor/pianist/composer Charles Floyd for the 24th annual Gospel Night at Pops. This rousing performance will feature legendary singer Darlene Love and the voices of the all-volunteer Boston Pops Gospel Choir. Called "one of the greatest singers of all time," by Rolling Stone, Darlene Love performed backup vocals for Dionne Warwick, Marvin Gaye, and Elvis Presley before breaking out as a star in her own right. She was also featured in the Academy Award-winning film Twenty Feet from Stardom, which explored the fascinating lives of some of the music industry's most prominent backup singers. The performance will showcase some of the most recognized tunes in gospel, jazz, R&B, and pop as well as such gospel hits as "Lean on Me" "Marvelous" "Who Under Heaven" and "Please Be Patient With Me."
