Come and meet Donnell Patterson. The Mystic Chorale is proud to present this dynamo of Gospel traditions for an all-day Gospel Music Workshop.
$25 at the door
Why do we want you to meet the great Donnell Patterson? Because he will be directing our 2017 Winter Gospel Season while Jonathan Singleton takes a leave of absence. For many years Nick Page has ended Mystic concerts with Donnell's version of "Every Day Is A Day of Thanksgiving." Donnell is a force of nature, inspiring glorious singing as director of music at St. Paul's AME in Central Square, at New England Conservatory, and in his work as an educator. He has hosted the Mystic Chorale at his annual NEC Gospel Festival and has been an enthusiastic member of our audience for many years.
At his October 15th workshop, Donnell will celebrate the Past, Present and & Future of GOSPEL MUSIC: starting with the rich body of Spirituals, followed by present-day Gospel music and ending with contemporary Gospel which bends toward rap/hiphop and R&B.
Donnell will teach us songs representative of each time period by various Gospel artists such as James Cleveland and Edwin Hawkins as well off-the-hook, groovy, funky contemporary Gospel music!
Donnell is truly a Hurricane of inspiration. See you October 15 in Arlington.
